In 2008, its name was changed to EastChina Design Branch of China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp.
The East China Design Branch, China Petroleum Engineering Construction (Group) Co. , and China petroleum First Construction Corporation were merged and reorganized as China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp.. On June 2008, East China Survey and Design Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas was reorganized as "EastChina Design Branch of China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp." and "Technical Service Branch of China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp."

It maintained deputy bureau level, status of independent legal person, and autonomy in operation. As an independent accounting, and self-financing business entity, its business scope covered refinery engineering design, gas storage and transport engineering design, and etc.

In 1984, EastChina Survey and Design Research Institute of Petroleum Ministry was founded.
The Survey and Design Institute was closed. Jiaozhou-based oilfield chemical design contracting company was officially founded. Business scope covered oilfield and refinery design, heavy crude treatment, crude oil stabilization, associated gas treatment, light hydrocarbon recovery.
